Our History
On September 5th, 1949 Ten Mile Free Will Baptist was organized with 22
charter members. This small group
of Christians believed through prayer and the faithfulness of God they would
help establish a church that would teach God's Word and be a light to the
community. Charlie Miller served as moderator and George Ritter was the church's
first pastor. Soon, their prayers were answered and the church began to overflow
with people. The one room church had to be expanded.
 The
church family began to raise money for the building project through a series of
fundraisers. Beginning with a cinder block fundraiser. Each Sunday, a cinder
block was placed on the altar at the morning worship service. Children would
bring twenty-five cents to place inside the cinder block. With every twenty-five
cent donation, one cinder block would be purchased. Soon, the cinder blocks were
purchased and the
hard
labor began. After weeks of hard labor the foundation, that was hand dug, was
formed. Next, funds were donated for wood and roofing materials to be purchased.
The present building was built in 1951 over the original building. When the
present structure was completed, the old building was removed and the church
didn't miss a single service.
Times and automobiles have certainly changed! However, it's good to know that
some things haven't changed.
For
over 50 years, Ten Mile Free Will Baptist's commitment to sounding out the Word
of the Lord thru the preaching of the Bible hasn't changed. The Bible's promise
that Jesus Christ can change lives and save people from their sins hasn't
changed. Is your life in need of a change? Then come visit us. We're still
sounding out the Word of the Lord. We're still a place to discover that God's
love hasn't changed.
