February 2005

Dear partners in ministry,

We have some good news to share with you. Tiago, a 21 year-old law student, son to our treasurer and his wife, has recently returned to the Lord. Tiago was saved as a young teen, but he strayed away from the Lord. He has been involved in drugs, using alcohol heavily as well as running around with girls. His parents have been very concerned for him and we have been praying for him at church. Since February he has been coming regularly to church and showing much interest in spiritual things. I approached him about starting a Bible study together. He eagerly accepted. Tiago has now rededicated his life to the Lord!

I mentioned to you in our last update that Angelica also rededicated her life this year. She is growing spiritually. Recently her mother, Rosangela, called me and said she needed to talk. She acknowledged being distant from God, but said she wanted to know him. She had been noticing a difference in her daughter Angelica. We started meeting weekly for an evangelistic Bible study. In our second meeting she was ripe to pray the sinner's prayer and invite Christ into her life.

Not everything has been that rosy in the last two months. Both Rejane and I have emotionally been going through some very tough times. We need your prayers in a very focused way. The church has been going through crisis as well with interpersonal problems. The enemy will not give up without a fight.

The Christian bookstore continues attracting new people each month, but sales are still not meeting expenses. Please pray for this situation. Pray also for the unsaved people that we have contact with there.

Our Bible School in Campinas invited me to teach a course this semester. I just finished up a week of intensive classes and will be going back in May for another week to finish up the course with the 18 students. I am teaching the same course in our church here in Belo Horizonte on Saturday mornings with 8 students.

Summary of prayer requests:
1. Pray for a Brazilian pastor for the church in Belo Horizonte.
2. Pray for the salvation of several unsaved people that have been visiting the church.
3. Pray that the Christian bookstore will soon be self-supporting.
4. Pray that the Lord will give us emotional strength to carry on his work.

Praise items:
1. Praise the Lord for the conversion and the rededications.
2. Praise the Lord for the Bible School students who have shown interest in studying the Word of God.
3. Praise the Lord for the opportunities he has given us in the Christian bookstore.

We thank God for each one of you, our partners in ministry. We value your prayers and we value your financial support. It is a privilege to represent you here in Brazil.
